I definately agree that the old stuff is better. In my opinion, they peaked with ...And Justice For All. I haven't liked anything after the Black album (1991). Although I like what I've heard so far from St. Anger.
They are getting older and there's no way they can go on without changing there style a little bit, regardless of age. All bands change their style a bit over time.
