Socom Ii World Championship Tournament!

What is this all about....and who are these guys????

I just got my little kids letter in the mail from eseals (it must be Christmas..LOL), and if you are a member don't feel bad I am a member as well....anyway here is what it said about the World Series of SOCOM...

AND THE NEW SOCOM II WORLD CHAMPION IS...
If you think back a ways to the beginning of October 2004, you will remember our SOCOM II Tournament was winding down to the finals of the North American leg of the bracket. It came down to a fierce battle between Old School and ghost Team 6 in what was surely one of the better competitions I have seen since we started running tournaments a couple years ago. When the smoke cleared, Old School locked in a trip to San Francisco, CA for a world class show down against the Korean SOCOM II tournament champs. This was for all the marbles and both teams showed up with their best stuff ready to take home the crown of Undisputed SOCOM II World Champion!

The world finals were held on Saturday, October 30th at the PlayStation flagship store within the Metreon in downtown San Francisco, CA. A good crowd of over 300 people came to watch Old School from the United States face off against the RA Clan from Korea for the rights to be called SOCOM II World Champs as well as to catch a first look at the new downloadable maps for the HDD. Representatives from e-SEALs, SCEA, and SCEK (Sony Computer Entertainment Korea) set the rules and maps for the LAN-based competition. The Clans would play a best of 3 maps with staggered amounts of players participating on each map. Each map would be the best of 5 rounds with a 5 minute time limit. The maps were prepared by moderators as follows:

FIRST MAP
Player count: 8 vs. 8
Map name: After Hours (the first new downloadable map for the HDD)
Old School (U.S.): Terrorists
RA Clan (Korea): SEALs

SECOND MAP
Player count: 4 vs. 4
Map name: Vigilance
Old School (U.S.): Terrorists
RA Clan (Korea): SEALs

THIRD MAP (if necessary)
Player count: 8 vs. 8
Map name: Foxhunt
Old School (U.S.): SEALs
RA Clan (Korea): Terrorists

The battles were fast and furious but proved to be great fun all around. In the first map, After Hours, the Korean team had a distinct advantage having this map released on their version of SOCOM II. They were able to flank Old School and took the map 2 – 1 with two draws. To mix things up a little, the next map, Vigilance, was played as a 4 vs. 4. Old School was able to rebound from their opening map loss and forced a final map by taking Vigilance 2 – 1 with two draws. Riding the momentum into the final map, Foxhunt, Old School rolled up the Korean team 3 – 0 to win the crown! So officially, the undisputed SOCOM II World Champion is....

OLD SCHOOL!!!

I wanted to again thank all the Clans that participated in our leg of the SOCOM II World Championship Tournament as well as SCEA, SCEK and the entire staff at the PlayStation store at the Metreon in San Francisco. Without everyone's dedication to the game and hard work we could have never seen a tournament that truly spanned the world! Check out video of the event, including interviews with players, live footage of the maps in play, and much more at www.US.PlayStation.com/SOCOM2Tourney. Also, keep an eye open for future Tournaments and competitions hosted by the SOCOM e-SEALs – make sure to train hard for your chance at taking the title next year!

So who are these guys??? I have never heard of them, usally you hear about clans i.e. you guys (wow, that Chief guy and really suck up...LOL) ReD Cell (Wait a minute that is his clan....I see where this is going...) , Liquid Zero (those little cheaters....) who is no more or UN (United Nations...wait was that my old clan...sorry...LOL).

Anyway....the movie OLD SCHOOL ROCKS!! I don't know about the clan....

Training them young....

It sounds familiar. We had a match a while back against a clan called "Old School". If I'm correct, it was Chad's ( the guy that runs SOCOMCLANS.NET) clan. . . . . . Rator?
