Buying a new TV. Help.
Ok, I'm in the market for a new TV.
I want a nice flat panel jobby. Any advice? Anyone got a TV that they love? Any info at all? (I've got absolutely no idea what to get.) |

I'm gonna ask you questions, and every time you don't give me answers, I'm gonna cut something off. And I promise you... they will be things you will miss! |

Chenzo,
I would recommend a Plasma or LCD, depending on the size you want. 42" or smaller, LCD is the preferred route. You want one that has the ability to do 1080p via an HDMI input. That's the current standard for most equipment including things like Blu Ray players. There are several manufacturers that make good panels. Panasonic, Samsung, etc. Pick one that you like. From a quality standpoint, they are very similar. I would buy it from a local HDTV speciality store that can install it as well. The big box guys like Best Buy are OK, but the smaller speciality retailers (like Tweeter, etc.) tend to do a better job with installation. They usually have pretty good service as well. Beware, the cost to wall mount a TV can approach the cost of the TV itself. You need a wall mount ($150), an electrical outlet installed ($250), cabling ($50), plus installation for everything ($350+). So you could be near $1,000 in the installation dept. Check out Cnet's reviews http://reviews.cnet.com/televisions/?tag=img.tv Keep your ears buttered up while I set fire to the rain! |

I'm leaning towards the 42" LCD
Plasmas are nice, but too often they look like shit when not viewed from directly in front. I might even drop a little extra and get a Sony Bravia (sp) we'll see... luckily, I'm real close to delaware - no sales tax - so I might just run down there to a BestBuy or Circuit City and pick one up. Heh, would be nice to have it for Fake Band Practice on Friday. |

LCD is the best right now by far according to www.cnet.com #1 place for reviews, so Chenz if you want to check that site you may just find something you'll like for a decent price.

I love my 32" LCD, its an off name "Symphonic" but it works like a charm. The only input I have is make sure you get one with multiple HDMI inputs so you can run PC, a blue ray player and console all together without swapping HDMI cables. Also got it for less than $500.
