Resident Evil: Outbreak
I heard this game was coming out today and it is online. Anybody plan on purchasing the game?
I'm a huge fan of the series. I'm thinking I might rent it first. Why, you ask? I bought Midnight Club 2 (or whatever its called) and 007 cause they were online, but I didn't like either one of them. Who knows, I might break down and buy it anyway. I'm gonna go see Dawn Of The Dead this weekend so that might give me the urge to kill zombies. |

I would love to play this game. I played all the other series on ps1 and ps2. The only downfall to the series is that i couldnt play resident evil "one", not directors cut, due to the fact it was on the worst system ever, gamecube. Im sure there are ways to get around the no headset part of this game :).

Ok...I beta tested this game...Can you say SUCKS??
I played one of the earlier Resident Evil games, but it really wasn't my thing. Why does this game suck? I'll tell ya why. No voice chat. No keyboard chat. Yet, you have to work in teams to get to the different levels. The graphics? Fantastic. A+ for that. But everything else?? No way. It's not worth the price of a rental in my personal opinion, and I've beta tested a lot of different games. The communication part was a big factor for the beta testers, but the game developer released a statement saying it had no intentions of changing it. You're left with different commands to use with the controller to call for help, say "over here", say "this way", etc.. But if you're upstairs, and you have a buddy down stairs, you have no way of telling them where you are at if you need assistance. This was a big deal breaker for the testers and the most major complaint about it. The other biggest complaint was controller modification settings. I don't recall what came of this, but that was another one. One of the other things was, when you log in, you go to any random room. If nobody else came in, you started the game on your own. There's no "green up" option. The game just starts. Once it starts, nobody else can join. My ratings? Graphics: A+ Story: D (same old story over and over, kind of like the Alien movie series) Online functionality: F- Overall game rating: D- “Weapons down or I will not be responsible for what comes next.” - Captain America |

How bout the idea of something like teamspeak. If you used that while gaming, would it be worth buying?

The only problem with console gaming and team speak usage is you need a pc near your PS2 and you have to hit a button on the PC to talk. you can set it to activate via voice, but with all the explosions etc i dont think it works that well. RE is a slower game so it may work.
I'm gonna ask you questions, and every time you don't give me answers, I'm gonna cut something off. And I promise you... they will be things you will miss! |

I've played a couple rounds online already. After you get to know the levels, mics aren't needed really. Maybe they are....I don't know. But since I'm used to no mic, seems normal.

k, last night I played RE O with a gamer that uses TS all the time for other games. Made a world of difference. Especially when you get seperated. Sometimes the game seperates the party up automatically (Frozen - goin up the long stairs - divides the party up in two groups).

Well I don't know that Resident Evil Online works that good online. I have not played it but, like Grifter said, its the same stuff over and over again. They need to go back to basics, the first resident evil was really cool inside that scary house.
Today I will buy Fight Night 2004. :D |

Here's a solution to the no mics problem, my friend and I do this when we play FFXI online. Yahoo messenger has a conference function. Open a conference room and invite whoever you need to talk to. There is a hands free option that allows for voice recognition. No buttons to press. Problem Solved!! Unless of course you do what my friend does and eat chips the whole time - that gets really annoying.

I've played pretty much every level now. It's an OK game. The best part of the game is the cutscenes. Out of any video game I've ever played, RE O has by far the best cutscenes ever. Some are super gruesome. There are a couple sniper shots that are tight. In fact, the best cutscene in the game is on the last level where a sniper shoots the main boss with a special blood sucking projectile. I never hit "start" for that flick.

Is it just me or this Resident Evil like a 1000 times harder than the others? I'm impressed with the game so far and I'm sure if I can last longert than 10 minutes it will be reall enjoyable:D

It's definately harder.....at least in my opinion. Even when you know what has to be done, it's still hard.
