Socom II
Hey guys
Just wondering what inside info you can pass on from Socom II, we won't get it down here until March. Anything you could pass on would be greatly appreciated. ;) |

Don't know specifically what kind of information you would want?
The game is great. It has its faults. Killing is much harder now than in S1. You must try to shoot people in the head or upper chest to take them down quickly. The new maps are very good. Some are large and some are small. There are advantages and disadvantages you must learn with the maps and Seals vs. Terr. Clan's are allot easier to keep track off with the new Clan roster. You can see who is online, what Server there playing in and what room there in. You can create a friends list that provides the same information as the Clan list, but it's for people you like to play with that are not on the same clan. There is a Ranking System online that will reward you for the points you gain in battles. It's not all about killing anymore. You get rewarded for completing different objectives in the maps. These objectives can vary from destroying an enemy base to rescuing a VIP. You also get points for blowing up gates, walls, communication towers, etc. You also get more points awarded for killing higher ranked players than you would if you killed an Ensign. I personally don't think the ranking system is all that great or accurate. We concentrate on playing as a team and don't put too much weight on the rank system. So far, no major issues with glitches except for a couple and they’re not that bad. So far I have not seen cheaters. If there are any, I have never seen it myself. SOCOM 2 is compatible with the HDD Hard Drive. Don't know exactly what you can download but it sounds promising. You are forced to play the single player game in order to unlock special characters for online play. The single player game is much better than the original but you will still see your teammates make stupid mistakes. The weapons selection is much better than before, but you must also learn the advantages vs. disadvantages. There is a bunch more but you will figure it out once you start to play. |

Thermal scopes are an option for sniper rifles. Sometimes you can get the thermal scope with other weapons as well. Unless the map is REALLY REALLY DARK, don't bother with thermals though. The regular scope has a longer range that the thermal scope.
The .50 Desert Eagle is way less powerful. The pump action shotgun (avail. as Seal and terrorist) is worthless, but the auto shotgun (terrorist only) is DEADLY for close combat situations, almost to the point of being ridiculous. The M-14 is a much better weapon in S2 and I've noticed a lot more people using it. There are less draws. Most maps have a mission and if that mission isn't completed, you lose. For example, in "The Mixer," its the terrorist mission to kill the VIP's. If they don't kill them all (or all the Seals), they lose. That's all I feel like coming up with at the moment. There are a lot more though. Last edited by [SS]CJ : 12-04-2003 at 03:35 AM. |

If you do the Beta Test will be to test the servers, not the game. Thats pretty much what they did with us. GOOD LUCK!!!
Hope its not as frustrating for you guys as it was for us. |

I was in the Socom Beta Testing earlier this year, so I know what to expect. Hope I get in again.
